MY CLASSROOM
Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is focused on creating life long learners by providing relevant and engaging learning tasks. The approaches and strategies that I value most are:
- Student centred learning.
- Differentiation in the delivery of learning sequences: verbal, written and visual communication as well as hands-on activities.
- Allowing students to present their learning in a variety of modalities.
- Students work at their own level towards challenging yet attainable learning goals.
- Giving students choices and ownership of their learning.
- Involvement of parents and other community members in the classroom.
- Creating a positive and inclusive classroom community.
Classroom Management
I use a range of classroom management strategies to communicate expectations and create responsible, respectful and resilient students. These strategies include:
- Positive behaviour reinforcement.
- Restorative practices.
- Using visuals to help communicate expectations and procedures.
- Encouraging student input in the development of classroom rules and expectations.
Student GalleryThe student gallery allows students to proudly present the work that they have worked hard to create. Students enjoy being able to regularly update which piece of work is shown and showing them off to their parents.
